Services
A1 Thermoline offer national service and maintenance contracts
for fires, flues, flue extractor fans.
Maintenance & Servicing
It is recommended (British Standards) that all flues are regularly
checked and cleaned. All chimneys used with coal should be swept
ideally before, during and after the heating season, or at least
twice a year. When wood is burned, then chimneys should be cleaned
every two to three months due to tar and creosote build up.
Core Ball
In the event that a flue would appear to be blocked, a CORE
BALL is lowered down into the flue. This is to establish if there
is some form of obstruction, and where it is located.
The CORE BALL can very often be used to clear the obstruction,
particularly bird's nests that have been in situ for many years.
Reaming
Flues can occasionally become covered with tar. This builds
up until eventually it becomes an exhaust restriction, or even
worse, a fire hazard. At A1 Thermoline we have the means to remove
this build up with a custom built reaming machine.
This requires a section of special revolving chains that are
lowered down the chimney. Revolving at relatively high speeds,
they remove the tar and creosote from the flue wall.
A high power vacuum removes all residues. Clay liners and other
forms of lining can also be removed. However, depending on the
type of liner and its durability, each problem has to be dealt
with separately.
